Otolaryngology, ENT
Fort Loudoun Medical Center
Otolaryngology, more simply known as ear, nose and throat treatment, is the oldest medical specialty in the United States.
At Fort Loudoun Medical Center, our ENT physicians diagnose and manage diseases of the sinuses, voice box, oral cavity, mouth and throat, as well as structures of the neck and face. One of their specialties is allergies - a common complaint in East Tennessee.
Ear
Hearing loss affects one in 10 Americans. ENT physicians are trained in medical and surgical treatment of hearing problems, ear infections, balance disorders, nerve pain, and facial and cranial nerve disorders.
Nose
Chronic sinusitis is one of the most common health complaints in the United States. ENT physicians care for the nasal cavity and sinuses, and help with allergy relief.
Throat
ENT physicians have expertise in managing diseases of the larynx, or voice box, and the esophagus, including voice and swallowing disorders.
Head and neck
This area of the body includes important nerves that control sight, smell, hearing and the face. Medical care includes treatment of infectious diseases, both benign and malignant cancerous tumors, and facial trauma and deformities. Some ENT physicians may do certain types of cosmetic plastic and reconstructive surgery.
